No matter how long or hard you work, it’s always going to come to a final end sometime, and there will inevitably be things left unfinished. Perhaps one of the reasons that one can have less difficulty facing the reality of death is the recognition and acceptance that it could happen at any time and will happen sometime.
All of the things that one creates are, in a way, a quest for immortality. They are works that don’t depend on mortal breathing and, therefore, they last longer than we do. Said otherwise, it extends your life, to some degree, beyond mortality
