Obama Overwhelms Clinton: Wins in Wyoming by 23 Percent

Barack Obama captured the Wyoming Democratic caucuses on Saturday, receiving 61 percent, or 5,378 votes, to Clinton’s 38 percent, or 3,312 votes, with all of Wyoming’s 23 counties reporting. Twelve delegates were at stake. Obama already has a lead in the overall race for nominating convention delegates.

Obama generally has outperformed Clinton in the caucuses, which tend to reward organization and voter passion more than do the primaries. Obama has now won 13 caucuses to Clinton’s three. Obama has shown a particular strength in the Mountain West, winning Idaho, Utah, Colorado and now Wyoming.
