Dolly Parton’s Joyful Anthem: Better Get to Livin’

Dolly Parton: Backwoods Dolly

Dolly Parton: Better Get to Livin

Dolly Parton’s Better Get to Livin

Dolly Parton’s forthcoming album might be called Backwoods Dolly, but one particularly uplifting single from the album, Better Get to Livin’, shows that the timeless entertainer is more wise philosopher than a painted, plastic country kewpie doll. She introduced this joyful anthem during an earlier prime-time appearance on ABC’s Dancing With the Stars. At the heart of the track is Parton’s sweetly distinctive vocal, backed by the angelic voices of acclaimed gospel songbirds Sonya and Becky Isaacs. The well-crafted lyrics find Parton encouraging others to live life to the fullest. Brimming with Parton’s signature wit, wisdom and personality, it’s the musical equivalent of getting a much-needed boost from your favorite partner.

It hasn’t a year for “models” on “Dancing with the Stars.” Plus, Albert Reed turned his Quickstep routine into a bizarre “skipping and prancing” shtick. So, the show dropped Reed on Tuesday night. The model’s dancing downfall seemed to come as a shock to both the judges and the audience.

Photographs, photo-gallery and videos included.

Randy Pausch didn’t want his last lecture to be about dying. But he is, sadly, dying of pancreatic cancer. He knows it’s a painful way to go. When he gave his final lecture last month, he wanted to demonstrate that his focus remains, as always, on living, or on living in the process of dying.

A Photograph and remarkably unforgettable videos are included.

Politicians like to get a warm welcome when they go on TV talk shows, but the one House Speaker Nancy Pelosi got Tuesday on “The View” was downright hot and sexy! !

With Barbara Walters leading the charge, Whoopi and Barbara started flirting with the speaker’s husband, and things very quickly went downhill from there!

A Photograph and the video are included.

Albert Reed Cut from “Dancing”: Quickstep Routine Turned into a “Skipping Prance”

Albert, They Said to Dance, Not Prance!!

It hasn’t been a season for “models” on Dancing with the Stars this year. The hit ABC show gave Albert Reed his walking papers Tuesday, making him the second contestant to be burned by the ominous red spotlight. The Abercrombie & Fitch cover boy’s Dancing downfall seemed to come as a shock to both the judges, who had awarded his quickstep a cumulative 21 and dubbed him the dark horse of the competition, and the audience members, who were obviously sorry to see the fresh-faced 22-year-old go.

I’m a little stunned, but we did the best we could,” Reed, who dedicated his Monday performance to his late grandfather, said after hearing the news. “That’s all you can ask for.”

So, unlike last week, when viewers gave the low-scoring Josie Maran the boot, the at-home votes didn’t coincide with the judges’ critiques this time around. Reed was joined in the bottom two, however, by Wayne Newton, whose score of 15 was the lowest of Monday night.

My Articles for Wednesday, September 26, 2007

Today marks the start of the infamous 1969-70 Chicago Seven Trial of activists charged with plotting to incite riots at the 1968 Chicago DNC. That DNC attracted Vietnam War protesters and civil rights activists. They were faced and attacked by Mayor Richard Daley’s brutal police force.

Drawings, photographs and a video photo-gallery are included.

In this week’s “Dancing With the Stars,” the most vivid moment on “Boys’ Night” was when the camera showed the faces of the women competitors after model Albert Reed completed a cha-cha-cha. With so many pelvic gyrations, he could easily get a gig as a Chippendale stripper. The women were absolutely agog! The article includes photographs and video.

Wofford College, the smallest school in Division I football, beat Division I-AA’s top-ranked Appalachian State by a score of 42-31. Fans recall last year’s University of South Carolina game, where Wofford lost a close 27-20 game in the final 5-seconds. This article gives a historic look at this unusual, small college. Photographs and videos are included.

Hunky Albert Reed: Like Watching a Chippendale Stripper

In the first week of competition on “Dancing With the Stars,” the most memorable moment on “Boys’ Night” had to be when the camera panned the faces of the women competitors after model Albert Reed completed a cha-cha-cha (at least that’s what we think it was, who was watching his feet?). With so many pelvic gyrations, he easily could get a lifetime’s worth of work as a Chippendale dancer. Let’s just say that the women were absolutely agog!!

His score of 21 was right in the middle of the overall results, but despite his status as “least known” competitor it’s hard to believe he won’t be voted back tomorrow night. Especially after he promised in his post-dance interview to wear no shirt sometime in the future (tonight’s being slit open to his navel).

Albert Reed is the youngest celebrity to ever participate in the competition, and the self-proclaimed “least famous person [here],” but he doesn’t look like it. The 22 year old free-spirited guy is, however, a huge goofball. Teamed up with Anna Trebunskaya, their dance started with a tongue-in-cheek “model walk” followed by Anna ripping of his jacket to reveal a shirt opened nearly to his navel. A little something for the ladies. He makes great faces, has a good center of gravity and energy. He looked like he was having a lot of fun, even though he needed some more follow through with the body rolls.

One judge’s evaluation of the performance: “You gyrated, rotated and pulsated. It was like watching a stripper – don’t worry what they’re doing, just sit back and enjoy it.”

Oh No!!  Hunky Albert Reed got booted from “Dancing with the Stars” during Week 2.  Read about it and see the Week 2 Albert Reed videos here.
