Vicenta: A Spine-Tingling Tale of Lusty Betrayal and Bloodthirsty Revenge

Vicenta: A Spine-Tingling Tale of Lusty Betrayal and Bloodthirsty Revenge

Vicenta is an awesome stop-motion animated short film directed by Sam Orti at the Spanish studio Conflictivos Productions. This plasticine/claymation movie turns out to be an epic little horror-film, with scenes of hot sex, bloody corpses and intense violence. The film tells the story of a woman in search of her husband’s lottery winnings, whose rich but miserly husband is having a steamy liaison with the scheming floozy who lives in the flat next door. If you’ve ever wondered what a hardcore claymation sex scene might look like, then you’ve absolutely got to check this one out!

The United Monster Talent Agency: An Ode to Bygone Monster Flicks

The United Monster Talent Agency: An Ode to Bygone Monster Flicks

The United Monster Talent Agency is a spooky short film by Greg Nicotero, a comic ode to the monster flicks of the bygone studio-era.  The film features Dracula, Frankenstein, King Kong, the Creature from the Black Lagoon and the Wolfman as actual, legitimate actors, represented by a particularly specialized faux-talent agency.  If you’re a genuine fan of the history of monsters, the film provides a fun game of “spot the monster” sure to inspire nostalgia, and even if you aren’t a fan, the film has some definite chuckles.

Elevated Madness: Trapped by Terrifying Monsters From Both Within and Without

Elevated Madness: Trapped by Terrifying Monsters From Both Within and Without

Elevated is a phenomenal horror-thriller short film by the Canadian director Vincenzo Natali.  The  film focuses on three people who suddenly find themselves trapped in an elevator, fearing that there’s something terrible lurking outside to kill them.  They’re trapped in the box, not knowing if leaving it will be suicide, or whether help is ever coming if they stay, or whether the monster is actually inside the elevator.

A mind-bending sense of excitement and aura of sheer madness escalates in the face of increasingly unbearable feelings of claustrophobia and uncertainty, two terrifying emotions almost universal to the human condition.  Arising from this desperate situation, the film reveals the manner in which we so quickly revert to primitive states of existence when confronted by such life threatening scenarios.  When tormented by apocalyptic fears about potential disaster, the film makes explicit both our innate distrust of others and our regression to panicked devaluations of one another, especially in a world increasingly characterized by an ever-growing dependence upon technology.

Jangwa!: Innocent, Bereft Little Meerkats Confront the Desert’s Dangerous Unknown!

Jangwa!: Innocent, Bereft Little Meerkats Confront the Desert’s Dangerous Unknown!

Jangwa! is a very clever animated short film by Ilija Brunck and Jan Bitzer, which was a Nominee for the German 2006 Baden-Württemberg Award for Best Animated Short Film. In the film, a group of curious little meerkats are quietly standing atop a stone ridge, surveying the desert below them as the sun rises. Suddenly, a strange danger is seen rapidly approaching toward the tiny meerkats from the barren desert below them. The innocent, meek little meerkats stand up in a straight line, one behind the other, all looking in the same direction to protect one another. A sense of great expectant suspense builds as the huge, menacing dangerous, nasty-looking creature rises up right before them, and then….

OMG Hide, Run for Your Lives! The Dreaded Elephandas Are Loose and On a Rampage!

OMG Hide, Run for Your Lives! Dreaded Elephandas Are Loose and On a Rampage!

OMG!! Part elephant, part gigantic panda…this dreaded heard of Elephandas, the most menacing of beasts, has been unleashed onto the good peoples of Thailand!

Oooops…Wait, no. My mistake. Turns out, seems like after a couple of very too-popular panda baby thingees was borned in a Thailand zoo, the employees there got sick of everyone saying “panda this” and “panda that.” So they painted up a bunch of poor elephants to look like panda thngs to remind everyone that the elephant is still the national animal of Thailand. Or at least that if they forget that, maybe the dreaded Elephanda will be!!

Thanks to Gawker.
