A Retro Chop-Suey Flick: Legend Of The Golden Egg Warrior

Just in case you haven’t had enough Easter joy yet, Toronto film production company Crush has produced a very humorous stop-motion animated short film, Legend of the Golden Egg Warrior, as an offering of good will over the Easter period. The film introduces us to a ninja nunchucking Easter bunny well schooled in the martial arts. Eggscellent!

Plum Flower Deer: A Visual Story of Courage and Rebirth

Plum Flower Deer: A Visual Story of Courage and Rebirth

Plum Flower Deer is a two-minute animated short film, with story, design and animation by Yoho Hang Yue at Toronto’s Crush Production Company. The film tells the story about a pair of Plum Flower Deer, (one of the most auspicious, divine animals in Chinese culture), who are separated by an act of man but are rejoined in spirit. The Plum Flower Tree itself has been the subject of innumerable paintings and poems, representing courage and elegance. The film draws on Chinese art and tradition, presenting an artistic rumination about love, hope, the natural world and rebirth.

Grizzly and Final Fantasy Release “Possibly Maybe”

Ed Droste of Grizzly and Owen Pallett (a.k.a. Final Fantasy) have collaborated and contributed their own fluttering version of Possibly Maybe to Stereogum’s brand-new, 12-track Enjoyed: A Tribute to Björk’s Post compilation.  Reports are that they transformed Possibly Maybe into a minimal wonderland of musical twists reminiscent of the late Charles Arthur Russell.  They joined covers by other groups, such as Liars, Dirty Projectors, High Places, Bell, Pattern Is Movement, Evangelicals, Xiu Xiu, White Hinterland, El Guincho and Atlas Sound.  You can stream or download their MP3 or the entire album and for free.   Enjoy it!!

Ed Droste and Owen Pallett/Possibly Maybe:

During the course of their collaboration in Toronto, they were interviewed by Out.com, where they talked about boyfriend issues and such.  You can read their interview here.
