Photography by: Frank Relle

These wonderful, mysterious photographs of historic New Orleans architecture are by Frank Relle, a photographer who was born and continues to work in New Orleans, Louisiana. Relle has been the recipient of numerous awards including a 2007 International Photography Award and the Photo Lucida Critical Mass top 50 photographers. His work is represented in major public and private collections, including the Smithsonian Museum of American History, the New Orleans Museum of Art and the Houston Museum of Fine Arts. His photographs have appeared in The New Yorker, The Southern Review and The Oxford American magazines.

The haunting nighttime images of New Orleans that are presented here keep the viewer on edge, and yet are somehow serene. What shines through most in this series of photographs is Frank Relle’s love of his New Orleans, and the honor he pays to its beauty. Relle continues to document the changing architecture of New Orleans, working to share his images with an international audience in the hope that people around the world will be inspired to help rebuild the city of New Orleans with the integrity she deserves.
